shiver me timbers!
Bennett came home from school a few weeks ago with this drawing started. It had a few outlines, but no shading or detail yet. Over the following week, he spent hours polishing it. Hours. I sat in silent awe of his patience, as he sketched and erased and filled in. My friend Brandy draws. My husband draws. I don't. Therefore, I admire unabashedly people who do.
I am watching my son grow into an artist, and I am amazed and humbled.
His drawing "Crazy Hair" is currently on display in the 46th Annual Young People's Art Exhibition. Here 'tis, for your viewing pleasure:
Did I mention that he's in first grade?

Can I start the bidding at $50?
Love the ship drawing, but what's all that seaweedy stuff hanging off the bowsprit? Is it a ghost ship that rose from years on the briny bottom? Or a hangover from watching "Pirates Of The Caribbean" too many times?
I can't draw either. I'm amazed at people who can make the brain-to-fingertips connection without giving it much conscious thought.
B says it's "slimy seaweed".
I forgot to mention - click on the photo to see all the details, including pirates overboard.
50 bucks'll buy him a whole lotta pencils! I have a feeling we're gonna need 'em.
great drawings! Glad he enjoys it so much!
Cool, I'm not much of an artist myself. Well, I am in other ways, but not on paper or canvas.
I just want to know how exactly your son knows what I look like when I first roll out of bed.....
That ship drawing is so cool. I have the same sense of amazement watching my older son drawing.
That is awesome! I can barely draw a straight line and, unfortunately, my son inherited my inability. Yep, you're gonna need pencils, pastels, charcoal...enjoy :)
Jim, it's a "Cursed Ship", so of course it has sea weed and junk hanging off it. It's too bad that my Spanish fleet will send it to the bottom on June 7th when we have our next game night at 318 Nichols Court.
