from somewhere safe

Let not your heart be disturbed.
Do not fear this sickness, nor any other sickness or anguish.
Am I not here, who is your mother?
Are you not under my protection?
Am I not your health?
Are you not happily within my fold?
What else do you wish?
Do not grieve nor be disturbed for anything.

-Our Lady of Guadalupe

I learned about the lady from a Mexican Huichol Indian who lives in El Paso. I asked if she was Mary and he said "yes and no." That the Mexicans would say she was to appease the Spanish, but that she also represented a pre-Christian "mother" figure that was Mexican.
